DESIGN
An image, architecture or simply everyday objects, are my source of inspiration. I start with pure precious metal and I build my design up as long as it remains between the rules of the ancient goldsmithing techniques. With my contemporary jewellery design I am trying to create transparency and new forms for the body by using Pyrex glass, gold, silver and precious stones.
Sophie Heymans had her own gallery and workshop in the artistic Dansaert Area of Brussels between 2005 and 2016. Today she focuses on pure creativity and exhibits her work as the mood takes her and through artistic encounters via her collective, GEM Studio.
Thanks to her dual nomination for the international competition of the Diamond High Council Award in Antwerp her jewels traveled around the world. She was recognized by Design Flanders in 2008 and she was commissioned to design a unique jewel collection for the Magritte Museum in 2010.
All her designs are handmade in Belgium. They offer you a guarantee of quality, each piece is stamped with a master stamp (manufacturer) and a title stamp (metal).
These hallmarks are approved by "La Monnaie Royale de Belgique".
